President Benigno Aquino III met with Senator Grace Poe and Senator Chiz Escudero to discuss the 2016 National elections on Wednesday night, July 15. The said dinner meeting was held in Bahay Pangarap, the official residence of the President in Malacanang.
The meeting which lasted for about 6 hours confirmed to turn out positive as revealed by Senator Poe. However, the President has not decided yet on whom to endorse on the 2016 National Elections. In an interview with the journalists during the Philippine National Police turnover ceremony and as aired by TV5’s Aksyon, President Aquino III said that the dialogue on Wednesday assures him that there are many candidates who are willing to continue the track of “Daang Matuwid”.
In a text message sent by Senator Grace Poe to GMA News, the Senator revealed that everyone in the meeting agreed that the Philippine’s progress in the next 6 years lies in the hands of the leader who will run our country. “Maganda at maayos ang aming pag-uusap… Lahat kami ay sang-ayon na nakasalalay sa tamang liderato ang pagsulong ng ating bansa.”
Interior Secretary Mar Roxas who also attended the said meeting was also asked if he, once again will give way to whoever the president will endorse as the Liberal party’s standard bearer.
“I think I should not be the one to be asked about that because my track record is clear, that we are capable of sacrificing… of giving way for the sake of a greater objective… to pursue the straight path,” Roxas replied as quoted in a news released by The Philippine Star.
In the 2010 elections, Roxas gave way his presidential attempt to then running mate Senator Benigno Aquino III. Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares on the other hand tops the senatorial list in the 2013 elections.
